- Teaching 9.14.10
- Church of Laodicea
- Last of the seven churches
- County club type of church
- Wealthy and rich
- Big city of manufacturing
- Popular/active church
- Revelation 3:14
- “”To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:”
- Jesus is telling these people who they are going up against
- Getting them ready for a crazy rebuke
- Amen: Jesus is the truth, final saying
- The faithful and true witness: he speaks the WHOLE truth clearly
- No confusion, straight forward
- Beginning of the creation of God: nothing can come into existence without God
- “”To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this:”
- Revelation 3:15-16
- “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.”
- It is nasty the way they are acting
- They are taking the hot truth of God and are changing it around coldly
- Making it lukewarm
- They just want to be comfortable
- They are sacrificing their teachings
- They do not want to be politically incorrect
- They do not want to be relational
- This lukewarm atmosphere is just nauseating so Jesus
- He would rather have them not know anything than to mix his truth with the world system
- “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.”
- Revelation 3:17
- “’Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,”
- They are rich and wealthy so they do not need God
- Thinking they do not need God
- WRONG!
- Jesus comes in and says they are poor and miserable
- They think they are good because they are comparing themselves to the world
- They are too secure in themselves
- “Good job church!”
- Jesus says that they are using his word the wrong way
- Matthew 5:13
- “”You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
- Literally saying they are worthless
- The church should send flavor to where ever they go
- “”You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.”
- They are rich and wealthy so they do not need God
- “’Because you say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked,”
- This church knew the truth
- But they were afraid to share this absolute truth because of persecution
- Compromise what is true
- Revelation 3:18
- “I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.”

- This is MORE precious than gold
- Put your faith in Jesus
- “so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;”
- Get the white garments
- Nakedness stands for sin
- Purified by the white clothes which stand for redemption
- Romans 3:23-25
- “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;”
- When you sin once, you are naked and blind
- Jesus Christ stood between us and judgment
- We can be saved as long as we put our all into faith
- “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;”

- Anyone who comes back to him, He will put them in power in heaven
- Positions of rulership
- Anyone who comes back to him, He will put them in power in heaven
- “He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'”
