Romans 8 Part 1 (Adam and Kyle)
- Teaching 11.16.10
- Romans 8:1
- “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
- Such a cool and awesome verse
- Real security
- All you have to do is make that decision to accept the Good News
- And you also accept Jesus Christ
- We are viewed as innocent and not guilty
- You are unable to lost your salvation
- Romans 8:2-4
- “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.”
- Jesus’ death counts for our sin
- This is a free gift!
- How does a Christian life work?
- It does not just end with the idea of you going to heaven
- Walk according to the Spirit
- A walk of what?
- This is the idea of a brand new life
- Romans 6:4
- “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.”
- He changes us and makes us a new person
- As you walk as a new Christian, you understand your new life
- “Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.”
- Romans 8:5-8
- “For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
- We are setting our mind on the Spirit not on the flesh
- Even if you accept Christ in your heart, you are going to heaven…
- But you can choose not to grow or to set your mind on the Spirit
- When you do this you do not grow and realize your identity in Christ
- “For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

- It is so deep that we do not need to do anything to receive this blessing
